One operator, one remote robot, one loop
Teleoperation is built around a master-slave relationship: a human operator manipulates a master device, a haptic interface shaped like a handle, glove, or exoskeleton, and a remote slave robot mirrors those motions. Commands flow one way, from master to slave, while sensor and force information flows the other way, from slave back to master. Together these two channels form a closed loop, not a one-way remote control.
This bidirectional loop is what separates true haptic teleoperation from ordinary remote control. A drone pilot flying by video feed is sending commands and receiving images, but nothing pushes back against their hands. A surgeon working through a haptic console is sending commands and receiving force, so their hands feel the consequences of the remote robot's actions in something close to real time.
