Code can be copied in a weekend. A genuinely engaged community, one that builds, advocates, and sticks around through downturns, is far harder to replicate and is what actually sustains a project long-term.

Real community building means responsive communication, meaningful ways to contribute beyond chat, and treating early supporters as stakeholders, not just marketing targets.
