Running a developer community, not a general chat
Web3 developer communities typically live in spaces like Discord and Telegram, and managing a developer-focused community is a distinct skill from managing a general social community. The goal isn't just activity or engagement metrics, it's making sure real technical questions get real, accurate answers, and that recurring questions eventually make their way into the documentation instead of being answered from scratch every time. A well-run developer channel often has pinned resources, organized categories for different topics, and a habit of turning good answers into permanent documentation.
Part of the job is also knowing when to step back. A healthy developer community eventually has experienced members answering newer members' questions without DevRel needing to intervene every time. Encouraging and recognizing that kind of peer support, rather than trying to personally answer everything, is a sign of a community that will keep functioning well even as it grows.
