BIP-360 was merged into Bitcoin's proposals repository on February 11, 2026, introducing Pay-to-Merkle-Root, the network's first quantum-resistant output type. BIP-361 followed on April 14 proposing a sunset of legacy signatures — which would permanently freeze inactive coins, including those widely attributed to Satoshi.
